1.感じるままを感じてもいい。感情には正しいとか間違いということはない。感情はただあるだけである。誰も人がどう感じるべきかを教えることはできない。感情について話すことは、良いことであり必要なことだ。 2.欲しいものを欲しがってもいい。欲さなければならないことや、望んではならないことなどない。自分の活力に触れたならば、大きく成長したくなる。 3.見え、聞こえることを見聞きしていい。見聞きしたものはなんでも、自分が実際に見聞きしたとおりのものなのだ。 4.いっぱい楽しんだり、遊ぶのはいいことだし、また、そうする必要がある。 5.真実を語ることは重要なことである。歪められた考え（“すべてか無か”思考、破滅化、過度の一般化、読心術、etc.）をしりぞけて現実をあるがままに見ることは、人生の苦痛をやわらげる。 6.ときには限界を知って、満足を先のばしにすることは大切である。これもまた人生の苦痛をやわらげる。 7.バランスのとれた責任感を発達させることは重要である。それは自分の行動の結果を受けとめることと、他人の行為の結果を引き受けないことを意味する。 8.失敗してもいい。失敗は教師である。失敗は学ぶことを手助けしてくれる。 9.自分自身と同じように、他者の感情、要求、望みもまた、尊敬され尊重されるべきである。 10.問題があってもいい。それは解決される必要がある。葛藤があってもいい。それは解決を必要としている。
